Like most people, I was filled with sadness, sympathy and admiration for the citizens of London as they responded to the latest attack by the Jihadists in their Islamo-fascist war on Western Civilization. As saddened as I feel for the victims of this pointless attack on innocent people, I am even more heartened, though hardly surprised that Londoners reacted with such bravery.

This is, after all, the city that overcame the Blitz and three decades of attacks by the IRA.  Moreover, it was not just Londoners, but the world that refused to yield to fear; in London, they were nearly back to business as usual the next day. The G8 summit went on as scheduled, agreeing to provide Africa with over $50 Billion in aid. Even the stock market came almost back to its starting place on the very day of the attack. 

The reality is that if the best the Jihadists can do outside their former strongholds in Iraq and Afghanistan is a single, pointless act of evil every 18 months or so, our civilization ultimately has little to fear from them. Clearly, the Jihadists have far more to fear from the Democracy flowering in the cradle of civilization, as it is in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon (and even, to a lesser extent, in Iran and Palestine) than we do from their evil.

I have faith that the Jihadist ideology of hatred, murder and theocracy will be unable to flourish once the citizens of the Middle East live in freedom.

The War on Terrorism will be a long hard struggle that is likely to last for years to come. It will be worth the sacrifice, however, to eliminate the roots of terrorism through the spread of freedom and Democracy throughout the world.
