To answer George Pardington (Letters Feb. 2), you write that I need to get correct information when comparing the campaign finances of Sen. Cantwell and former Sen. Gorton. If you check my article you will see that I did not compare their campaign finances.
Remember Mr. Pardington, Maria Cantwell promised to use her own money to pay for her campaign for Senate in 2001. Gorton made no such promises. I am sure the only reason Cantwell beat Gorton was because of her promises not to take P.A.C. or lobbyist money, but to use her own money. You state that she is raising funds to pay back her 2000 election debt, not to get her money back. That sounds like a gross contradiction to me. You say you hope I would send a name-calling letter to Senator Gorton. Mr. Pardington, I would be glad to oblige you, and I would call him truthful and honest.
