Riders traveling across Admiralty Inlet could see longer waits because of fewer ferry sailings.

The Port Townsend-to-Coupeville route returned to one-boat service last week and will continue through the winter. With the reduction in service, sailings will take place every 90 minutes.

The change will leave the Salish as the only ferry serving the route. Its sister ship, the Kennewick, is heading to the ferry system’s maintenance facility at Eagle Harbor for routine maintenance, spokeswoman Marta Coursey said. Once that maintenance is complete, it will replace the Salish on the route across Admiralty Inlet.

Single boat service will continue until mid-May.
