To celebrate the National Park Service Centennial, Friends of Ebey’s will  screen six film shorts made during “Ebey’s Reserve’s FilmSlam” in May. The unique films all feature Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve.

General admission doors open at the Coupeville High School Performing Arts Center 5:30 Saturday, June 11. VIP doors open 4:45 p.m. at the high school Commons.

“Our fundraising event this year will feature short films, each 3-6 minutes in length – all written, filmed and produced in 50 hours on the reserve,” said Alix Roos, executive director of Friends of Ebey’s.

“The reserve’s FilmSlam was open to all levels of filmmaking experience — the result is both a touching and entertaining mix of different perspectives of the Reserve from a zombie apocalypse, to “EB” the alien, to visual and historical explorations of the reserve, there is something for everyone,”  he said.

A People’s Choice Award will be presented and chosen by the audience, along with a presentation of the Judge’s Choice Award.

Two types of tickets are available for the event. General admission tickets are $5 for student and $10 for adult and include lemonade and popcorn. VIP tickets, which are $100, include a pre-screening party with celebrity guests and hors d’oeuvres, VIP seating for the screening and an after party across the street at the Compass Rose.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve. Tickets are available online at www.friendsofebeys.org, the bayleaf, Chamber of Commerce in Coupeville and Blooms Tasting Room in Langley.
