While senior Alexa Findley will disappear from Oak Harbor High School when she graduates next week, her name will be stamped on the softball record board that adorns the walls of the athletic complex for years to come.
Findley concluded her Wildcat softball career by establishing eight new school records.
This spring she set four single-season records.
Two of the records topped marks set by Jessica Kallander in 2008. Findley rapped 33 hits and finished with a batting average of .532, bettering Kallander’s records of 29 and .518.
Her on-base-percentage of .597 surpassed the .581 posted by Pam DeMoor in 1999.
Findley scored 27 runs. Carolyn Barr (1996) and Shawna Steele (2013) shared the previous record of 23.
Findley also set four career records.
She hit .403 as a four-year starter, erasing DeMoor’s (1997-200) record of .373. Her eight doubles were one more than Laura Hawkins slugged from 1995-98.
Findley’s final two records easily outpaced the previous highs. She scored 74 runs, topping Robyn Hartman’s mark of 58 set from 1996-98. Findley finished with 95 hits, smashing Hawkins’ old record of 72.
Findley has signed a letter of intent to play softball for California Lutheran University (Thousand Oaks) next year.
