Flag etiquette: Flags not displayed properly

I usually don’t like to jump on someone about their job performance in the public sector, but Oak Harbor Public Works Director Cathy Rosen has got my attention.

Yes, it is about the flag placement at Beeksma Gateway Park. I know it all falls on the mayor’s shoulders, but this time I can’t expect Mayor Cohen to go around and check out the performance of the Public Works Department every time a situation arises. I belive that’s why they pay the director the big dollars.

One would think the director would get it right the second time especially after a councilman reminded her not to screw up again. And to put icing on the situation, the department lowered the flags by shortening the lines.

I am sure the director has successfully completed some tasks. This one, however, will always be remembered by the military families in the area.

If Cathy Rosen would like a booklet on flag etiquette, I have one that she can make copies of.
