I will be moving to Seward on the Gulf of Alaska, where I will serve as the city harbormaster. The harbor has a staff of 11. The facilities include  boat moorage for over 600 vessels and a large boatyard with two travel lifts, both a 50-ton unit and a 250-ton unit, along with a 5,000-ton dry dock system manufactured by Rolls Royce.

And, I’m told that there is only one sea lion that is a problem!

I am excited to be returning to work in the industry that I truly enjoy and refocus on safety and harbor redevelopment.

The city of Seward staff seemed to have little interest in the audit finding and the pettiness that led the city of Oak Harbor to ask for my resignation.

Seward is the terminus of the Alaska Railroad and is a port of call for some cruise ships. The harbor features both fishing and tour boat excursions to the Kenai Fjords National Park. Seward has three fish processors and it consistently ranks in the top ten fishing ports in the U.S., led by halibut and salmon.

I am scheduled to report for duty on Oct. 3. Thank you, people of Oak Harbor, for the opportunity to serve you.
