Four Oak Harbor residents are facing felony assault charges for allegedly attacking a 20-year-old man and beating him with a large stick Feb. 7, according to court documents.
Prosecutors charged 18-year-old Shaun Jackson, 19-year-old Korey Jensen, 22-year-old Krystal Richardson and 22-year-old Jessica Reed in Island County Superior Court with assault in the second degree — deadly weapon.
The police responded to a report of a group of people assaulting someone on NE Ellis Way at about 10:30 p.m.
Oak Harbor Police Officer Patrick Horn wrote that the alleged victim said he contacted Richardson and asked her to buy beer from him. On the way to the store, she dropped him off on NE Ellis Way, where “four dark figures emerged from the trail,” Horn wrote.
The man said that the four people — his brother and his brother’s friends — chased him. Jackson was carrying a large stick and threw it at the victim, knocking him down, the report states.
Horn wrote that the assailants punched and kicked him as he curled into a fetal position.
The man suffered scrapes and bruises on his face and upper body. He was treated at Whidbey General Hospital for a painful, swollen jaw, but X-rays showed it wasn’t broken, the report states.
