What do you get when you combine a bunch of turkeys, the Elks Lodge, roughly 10 crazy organizers, and Thanksgiving Day?

Answer: The 10th annual North Whidbey Community Harvest.

On Thursday, Nov. 24, which is Thanksgiving day, North Whidbey Community Harvest is proud and happy to offer a free full turkey dinner that will be served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Oak Harbor.

As in previous years for those that are not able to get out or are working, meals will be delivered upon request. Call 675-9909 in advance or, on Thanksgiving, call the Elks Lodge at 675-1321 and speak with the delivery coordinator or his staff.

As the event grows and the cost of supplies increases each year so do monetary needs. This year the projected budget appears to be in excess of $17,000. To help, make a donation at the door on Thanksgiving, or drop off a donation with Jack Stiltz at Bay Printing on Barrington Avenue. Donations may also be mailed to North Whidbey Community Harvest, c/o Bay Printing, 1131 SE Ely St., Oak Harbor, WA  98277. Checks should be made out to “Community Harvest.”
