Brenda and Don Wilkins, of Greenbank, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at a celebration with their family in Seattle.

Brenda and Don are both from London, England. After World War II, they were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. A year later, they were married Oct. 16, 1954, and emmigrated to Canada the same day.

After several years in Toronto, they moved to the United States, settling in California. In the early 1990s, the couple moved to Bellevue. Eventually, Whidbey Island won their hearts, and 17 years ago, they retired to Greenbank.

Don satisfies his theatrical interests, directing many plays for Whidbey Playhouse and Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. Brenda contributed, assisting in set design, set painting and costume design.
