In response to the cancellation of the Holiday Market at the Greenbank Farm, one gallery is stepping up to try to bring some holiday spirit back to the farm.

Windwalker Taibi and Mary Jo Oxrieder, owners of Raven Rocks Gallery, posted a notice on the gallery’s Facebook page inviting some of the vendors that would normally attend the market to set up shop in his gallery.

“As the owners of Raven Rocks Gallery at Greenbank Farm, we are truly disappointed and saddened to see the cancellation of the Holiday Market for this year,” the pair wrote. “Yes, it will have impact on our sales, but that’s not the most important issue. It’s a major disappointment to the community that has supported the farm, and us, with such dedication over so many years.”

The gallery is inviting vendors to take turns and set up a booth space in the gallery on some weekends.

There are some stipulations about what kinds of products can be sold as to not interfere with competing products at the gallery space and vendors will be asked to pay 20 percent on sales.

In return, the gallery said it will process credit cards and cash sales, pay sales tax collected, cover advertising costs and package purchases with gallery materials.

“We don’t have a lot of space, but hope to help at least maybe half a dozen people in our gallery,” Taibi told the Port of Coupeville in an email Sunday. “I posted the following on our Raven Rocks Gallery Facebook page last night, and am getting responses — people are responding to our positive enthusiasm regarding all the upcoming changes.”

Taibi also said he thinks some of the other tenants at the farm might participate as well.

“It is our sincere hope to make the holidays brighter for at least some of our community, and that the Holiday Market (and many other much-loved events) will return better than ever in the new year,” Taibi and Oxrieder wrote. “And, please understand that we are making this up as we go along, so we’re not sure how it will all unfold. What we are sure of is that we appreciate you and want to do something to help.”
