Greenbank looks at partnerships

Greenbank Farm’s newest events coordinator is moving and shaking in her second month of employment.

Kristi O’Donnell said she is looking for collaborative projects with community partners to hold at the farm.

Collaborating is a way to cut costs and get the farm going during an uncertain financial time.

Some partners she says she’s looking to work with include Sno-Isle Libraries, Coupeville Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and South Whidbey Parks.

Getting the farm back up and running is a little difficult with a limited budget, she said, pointing out she cannot seek the important advertising the farm needs.

Currently, the Port of Coupeville has a line item for advertising but was left at $0.

O’Donnell asked commissioners during last week’s special meeting to amend the budget and include 1 percent of the port’s 2015 overall gross revenue for advertising purposes.

Because it was a special meeting and the item was not listed on the agenda, the board would not have been able to take action on the request. The board did not discuss the request any further.

In the meantime, O’Donnell said some things that can be done in the short term are the signs at the farm, which, with the help tenants, are going to be refreshed.

O’Donnell said she is also working on an upcoming wedding at the farm and working with the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce to be a satellite location for them.
