Students from Whidbey Christian School will be passing out grocery bags on Monday afternoon, Oct. 26 in various Oak Harbor residential areas as the kickoff of their annual “Share Not Scare” food drive. Residents who receive the bags are asked to fill them with canned and boxed food.

Whidbey Christian students will return on Friday, Oct. 30 to pick up the filled bags. This is a traditional community service activity for students at the school. Food collected will be used to provide Thanksgiving baskets to needy families. Adventist Community Services assembles the baskets and then delivers them to families selected by Help House.

“That way,” said Principal/Teacher Dan Nickolatos, “contributions of food will only be distributed to families who have a legitimate referral.”

In a season that is typically devoted to “scaring” others, Whidbey Christian students ask Oak Harbor residents to “Share Not Scare” in a way that will help many people in Oak Harbor who are less fortunate.
