Pam Headridge, head cheer coach at Oak Harbor High School, was recognized at the National Coaches Conference in North Carolina by American Cheerleader Magazine as part of the 2005 “Who’s Who of U.S. Cheerleading Coaches.”

Headridge was one of only three coaches chosen from Washington state. The others were Kim Mayer from Hanford and Jeni Chandler from Moses Lake Christian School.

The Wildcat cheerleading program is known for both school and community support through their cheering for football, volleyball, soccer, girls and boys basketball and wrestling. They are also active in the community helping with Relay for Life, Christmas In July Food Drive, the Christmas Village, Soapbox Derby for special needs kids, National Night Out and several fund-raisers for a new stadium.

The Oak Harbor City Council and the Excellence in Education Committee have recognized the team for their outstanding service. Nationally they placed fifth in the 2004 American School Spirit Award and in the top five for 2004 Fan Frenzy Night.

As a competitive squad the Wildcat cheerleaders placed fourth at 2005 USA Nationals and first in the 2005 Washington State Championship.  

Headridge has been honored as National Cheerleading coach of the year, National Federation Interscholastic Spirit Association Section 8 coach of the year and Washington state cheerleading coach of the year.
