Helen Price Johnson will seek a third term as Island County District 1 commissioner.
Price Johnson, a Democrat from Clinton, was out of town Tuesday and couldn’t be reached for comment, but in an event submission to the Whidbey News Group announced a kick-off re-election campaign event early next month.
The gathering is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Bayview Community Hall.
Price Johnson was elected in late 2008, becoming Island County’s first woman to serve as commissioner.
Price Johnson was elected to the position that November, along with Oak Harbor Democrat Angie Homola.
Price Johnson won a bid for re-election in 2012, defeating the late Jeff Lauderdale, a Central Whidbey Republican, for the partisan seat.
Commissioners serve four-year terms, and their salary is currently set at $78,496.
