The Oak Harbor boys golf team placed third in the six-team Wesco North match hosted by Arlington at the Gleneagle Golf Course.

Stanwood won the match with 379 strokes, followed by Arlington (425), Oak Harbor (429), Marysville-Pilchuck (447) and Marysville Getchell (482). Everett did not have enough players to earn a team score.

Raiden Poe led Oak Harbor with a 75 on the par-70 course. Steven Timm shot 80, Mason Dieter 83, Ben Fikse 94 and Nick Whitley 97.

Sloppy defense and inconsistent offense sent the Coupeville baseball team to a 7-3 loss at Chimacum. Only two of the Cowboys’ runs were earned off Coupeville starter Aaron Trumbull, who pitched a six-hitter.

After giving up an unearned run in the first and two in the second, Coupeville came back to tie it up 3-3 in the sixth, only to fall apart in the bottom half of the inning and allow Chimacum to pick up its first win in 13 tries this season.

Aaron Curtin, who hit a double, and Hunter Smith finished the day with two hits; Carson Risner also singled.

The Coupeville softball team also suffered from an unsteady defense in a 15-2, five-inning loss at Chimacum. Coach Deanna Rafferty said Katrina McGranahan and McKayla Bailey pitched well but the game was “riddled with errors and incomplete plays.”

Bailey, McGranahan and Hailey Hammer led the offense with base hits.
