A 35-year-old Oak Harbor man who violated a domestic violence protection order will be serving time at home.

Kent Deavilla pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court Aug. 17 to violation of a court order, domestic violence. It’s a gross misdemeanor charge.

As part of the plea bargain, the prosecution dismissed charges of residential burglary and malicious mischief in the third degree.

The judge agreed with a joint sentencing recommendation offered by the defense and prosecution. Deavilla was sentenced to six months of electronic home detention and ordered to pay $817 in fines and fees.

Also, Deavilla must receive drug and alcohol evaluations and comply with treatment.

In the early morning hours of May 30, Oak Harbor Police Officer Lisa Powers and two other officers responded to a 911 report from a home on SW Judson Drive.

The resident reported that Deavilla had tried to get into the house. She claimed he banged on the door and called her on her cellphone many times, loudly swearing at her. He then went into the garage and tried to break down the door, the report indicates.

A judge issued a protection order March 4 prohibiting Deavilla from going to the house and contacting the woman or the two children, records indicate.
