Navy Seaman Apprentice KYLE B. BRUNSON, son of Karen Eggett of Kearns, Utah and Evan M. Brunson, of Oak Harbor, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Brunson completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
The capstone event of boot camp is “Battle Stations.” This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. Brunson is a 2009 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Air Force Airman ANDREW C. CARTER graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Carter earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Janet Savlie of North Main Street, Coupeville.
Air Force Airman TIFFANY D. SPETH graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Speth is the daughter of Kerry and Mercy Speth of North Jones Road, Oak Harbor. She is a 2006 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Army Reserve PVT. JONATHAN P. BOLDEN has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat and field maneuvers and tactics.
Bolden is the son of Robbin Bolden of Larch Drive, Oak Harbor. The private is a 2010 graduate of Kearns High School.
