The Island County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help with an investigation of a pedestrian fatality.

A vehicle struck and killed a 55-year-old man who was walking on the southbound shoulder of Highway 20 between 10 p.m. Jan. 30 and the early morning hours of Jan. 31, the sheriff’s office reported.

The man was struck and killed at the 30000 block of the highway, just south of Oak Harbor. He may have been walking from the south Oak Harbor area, near 7-Eleven and the DK Market.

The man is described as a white male, 5-foot-7, with a thin build and brown hair. He was wearing a long-sleeve shirt, gray sweat pants and dark shoes. He may have been carrying a flashlight.

The sheriff’s office isn’t releasing the man’s name until his family is notified.
