The Board of Island County Commissioners Tuesday, without discussion, agreed to pay $72,500 to architects NBBJ, of Seattle, to study the county’s future office-space needs.

The county’s 26 facilities cover about 185,400 square feet on four campuses: Camano Island, Coupeville, North Whidbey and South Whidbey.

The study will take into account predictions of future staffing needs and changes in geographic distribution of the population, according to a document outlining the project.

The county commissioners also appointed JoAnn Hildred Strong, of Camano Island, to the Community Health Advisory Board within the county’s Board of Health.

Strong has been volunteering for the advisory board since January.
