Island County to auction off default parcels

The Island County Treasurer will auction 34 or fewer parcels of land to the highest bidder at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Island County Commissioner’s Hearing Room, 1 NE Sixth St. in Coupeville. The parcels are being sold due to non-payment of 2009 and prior property taxes. On Nov. 26, the Island County Superior Court ordered the treasurer to sell the property.

The Island County Treasurer will auction 34 or fewer parcels of land to the highest bidder at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Island County Commissioner’s Hearing Room, 1 NE Sixth St. in Coupeville.

The parcels are being sold due to non-payment of 2009 and prior property taxes. On Nov. 26, the Island County Superior Court ordered the treasurer to sell the property.

Tax foreclosure sales can only take place after property taxes are at least three years delinquent.

At press time, the properties range from an unimproved lot to a lot with improvements.

There are residential, industrial and vacant parcels available.

The properties have assessed values up to $308,901. The lowest estimated minimum bid is $1,295.59 and the highest estimated minimum bid is $24,941.05.

At the close of each bid, all sales must be concluded. The bidder must be prepared to cover the successful bid at the time the property is announced “sold.”

All payments must be made in full by cash, cashier’s check or money order.
