The following items were selected from reports made to the Island County Sheriff’s Office:

Wednesday, Nov. 7

At 4:29 a.m., a caller reported that a man was urinating in bushes on David Lane.

At 9:08 a.m., a Heller Road resident reported that someone stole a can of about $250 in quarters from her home.

At 2:19 p.m., a Madrona Way resident reported receiving a suspiciously “lumpy” envelope in the mail.

At 6:49 p.m., a driver reported that a man was standing in the middle of the road and then jumped in front of her car as she drove by.

Friday, Nov. 9

At 4:53 p.m., a caller reported that a single-engine bi-plane was doing “touch and goes” on a field near S. Ebey Road.

At 6:11 p.m., a resident reported that a husky-type dog attacked his dog on Rhododendron Drive and he had to throw rocks to get the mean dog off his pooch.

At 11:15 p.m., there was a report that suspicious people were jumping into the road and bushes on Patmore Road.

Saturday, Nov. 10

At 12:20 a.m., an intoxicated man said someone hit him on the head with a two-by-four board on Sidney Street. A complaint was taken.

At 8:56 a.m., a Highway 20 resident reported that her 1998 silver Honda Civic was stolen.

At 2:35 p.m., a resident of Oak Harbor Road reported that her neighbor stole jewelry, a brass dragon and other items from her apartment.

At 9:42 p.m., a Spahr Road resident reported that someone kicked in her door and then fled.

Sunday, Nov. 11

At 10:30 p.m, a Highway 20 resident reported that her intoxicated son threw her to the ground and then threw glass on top of her. He was arrested.

Monday, Nov. 12

At 10:02 a.m., a woman reported that an elderly woman on Bay Front Lane threatened her daughter and her daughter’s friend with a shotgun when they biked past her home.

At 12:50 p.m., a Hollydale Lane resident reported that a husky killed his rabbit.

Tuesday, Nov. 13

At 9:45 a.m., a caller reported that a 40-foot boat near Dines Point Road broke loose from its moorage and was headed out of Honeymoon Bay.

At 10:02 a.m., Navy security reported that a man wanted on a $10,000 warrant out of Oklahoma was at the base gate.

At 10:39 a.m., there was a report that a pickup lost its camper on Highway 20 near Sherman Road.

Fire

Between Oct. 25 and Nov. 12, Island County Fire District 2 responded to 34 medical calls, 13 car accidents, eight fire service calls, six fire alarms, two public assists, a tree down, a water rescue, four power line problems, two brush fires and a minor residential fire.

Oak Harbor Police

The following items were selected from reports made to the Oak Harbor Police Department:

Saturday, Nov. 3

At 10:26 a.m., a caller complained that a huge garage-sale sign was on a stop sign on SW Sixth Avenue.

At 11:15 a.m., there was a report that a pair of green rubber gloves were in the intersection of NW Crosby Avenue and NW Cathlamet.

At 7:54 p.m, a caller said a car had driven up to Hillcrest Elementary School and someone with a flashlight was walking around the building.

At 10:13 p.m., a caller at the Roller Barn said an 8-year-old boy had been left at the building. The caller said the Roller Barn had been closed for 30 minutes and every time the child called him, he got a message saying the phone had been disconnected.

At 11:15 p.m, employees at Safeway said a man had threatened to “lock and load” the next time he saw them because he had not been allowed to buy alcohol.

Sunday, Nov. 4

At 11:09 a.m., a caller on NW Crosby Avenue said an infant had been locked in a car and the mother was “hysterical.”

Monday, Nov. 5

At 8:24 a.m., a man was arrested at City Beach on a warrant out of Colorado for armed robbery.

At 10:29 a.m., a caller on SW Sixth Avenue said an older man had tried to come in the home. The caller kicked the door shut and said the man was now sitting on a jungle gym.

At 11:27 a.m., a caller on SE Ely and SE Fifth streets said a man who was “very out of it” was crawling in a ditch and in people’s yards.

At 1:34 p.m., a caller said people were stealing driftwood at City Beach.

At 2:32 p.m., there was a report that a boy on a bike had stolen a tip jar from a business on SE Pioneer Way.

At 2:47 p.m., a caller on State Route 20 reported receiving suspicious mail.

At 4:05 p.m., a caller on SE Cabot Drive reported receiving mail from Africa. The caller had opened the mail and found nothing unusual but felt the need to report receiving the mail.

At 4:45 p.m., a resident on NW Atalanta Way reported receiving suspicious mail.

At 5:26 p.m., a caller on SE Eighth Avenue complained about a person playing loud music while rotating tires.

At 9:33 p.m., a woman on NW Crosby Avenue said a man had come to her door and said he had gotten a phone call from a friend who told him to come to that address. The woman did not know the man or the friends.

Tuesday, Nov. 6

At 8:59 a.m., a business on NE Midway Boulevard reported an aggressive shoplifter.

At 11:10 a.m., a resident of SE Sixth Avenue reported a missing bear. The caller said the hand-carved lawn ornament might have been missing since Halloween.

At 11:33 a.m., a person on SW Judson Drive reported seeing a boy crawling through a house’s second-story window.

At 11:36 a.m., a caller requested an officer check on two suspicious men. The caller said the men were in front of Henderson’s Restaurant on SE Pioneer Way and were dark-skinned and wearing red turbans.

At 3:59 p.m., a caller reported seeing a boy riding a bike on Highway 20 and East Whidbey Avenue. The boy was pulling a trailer filled with audiovisual equipment.

At 4:30 p.m., a person came into the police department on SE Barrington Drive and said a car last night had driven away “as if it were up to no good.” So the person followed the car for approximately an hour and got its registration information.

At 7:03 p.m., a caller at AM/PM said four juveniles had stolen a car and were in the store’s parking lot.

At 11:33 p.m., a resident on Alder Lane requested assistance with a juvenile who had numerous knives, guns and paraphernalia in his room. Navy Security requested an ambulance at the location.

Wednesday, Nov. 7

At 1:23 a.m., a caller on SE Eighth Avenue said two men were outside the window screaming.

At 6:32 a.m., a suspicious person was reported at the post office. The caller said a Middle Eastern man had been at the post office and seemed as if he were trying to hide from the caller.

At 6:55 a.m., a caller on SE Midway Boulevard said his windshield had been broken in the night and an iron bar was lying beside the vehicle.

At 9:50 a.m., a caller said a car that had been abandoned in a city parking lot for more than two and a half years had a window broken out. The caller had cleaned up the glass and covered the window.

At 1:39 p.m., Pregnancy Care Clinic on SE Midway Boulevard said a man came in, threatened all the employees and the left the building.

At 3:31 p.m., a suspicious circumstance was reported at City Beach. A caller said someone had been in a men’s shower for 45 minutes but no water was running. The caller could hear clanking sounds.

At 7:48 p.m., a caller on N Oak Harbor Street said a neighbor was smoking narcotics in a pipe.

Thursday, Nov. 8

At 8:48 a.m., a 911 call was made from a SW Robertson Drive address. The dispatcher heard hear a man say, “Ain’t life just … grand.”

At 9:39 p.m., a resident on NE Narrows Avenue said someone had poured beer on his car.

At 10:46 a.m., a suspicious person was reported at City Beach. A caller said a man in a business suit was in a car looking at a very large map.

At 11:20 a.m., a caller said boys were playing chicken under a garage door on SW Sixteenth Avenue.

At 12:30 p.m., a person at the skate park on SE Jerome Street complained he had sent a person to get him $20 in change. The person did not return with the caller’s change.

At 1:31 p.m., a caller reported having a vehicle stolen from SE Barrington Drive.

At 6:55 p.m., a caller said a people in car on NE Midway Boulevard were verbally harassing women.

At 10:49 p.m., an 8-year-old called and reported that the child’s mother and an adult were fighting outside on the stairs at a NE Ernst Street address.
