Island County Sheriff
The following items were selected from reports made to the Island County Sheriff’s Office:
Thursday, Nov. 1
At 5:56 a.m., a resident of Highway 20 near Oak Harbor reported that four or five men knocked on her door and then pushed their way into her home. She said one of the men choked her and she ran away and hid. The report appeared to be unfounded, but a complaint was taken.
At 2:07 p.m., a W. Crescent Harbor Road resident reported that a large dog was on the loose and tried to attack an elderly woman.
At 5:13 p.m., a caller from the Soundview Shopper reported that a 25-year-old dark-skinned man wearing mismatched clothing asked suspicious questions, like “How do you get into the base?”
At 8:04 p.m., an Alamo Way resident resident reported receiving a letter from the Philippines, but he doesn’t know anyone there.
Friday, Nov. 2
At 7:23 a.m., a domestic dispute was reported on Morning Mist Lane. A complaint was taken.
At 10:39 a.m., a caller reported that a Rottweiler wearing a green blanket was loose on Seaview Avenue.
At 12:57 p.m., a Schattig Lane resident reported that an axe and a splitting maul were stolen.
At 4:30 p.m., a West Beach Road resident reported that someone loosened nuts on a car.
At 8:44 p.m., a Woodland Circle resident reported receiving harassing phone calls from someone using “a recorded voice to (the movie) Scream.” The voice said he put anthrax under the house.
Saturday, Nov. 3
At 3:03 a.m., an E. Crescent Harbor Lane resident reported seeing someone jump into the corral.
At 10:48 p.m., a caller reported that the occupants of a red Pathfinder threw “three hot cigarettes” out near the Deception Pass bridge. The caller said she was worried about the possibility of a forest fire.
Sunday, Nov. 4
At 12:38 a.m., there was a report that a “tidal wave” sign was down on W. Troxell Road.
At 6:17 p.m., an Ellwood Drive resident reported someone has been siphoning gas from his cars.
At 6:37 p.m., a McKinnon Drive resident reported that a person who looks Middle Eastern stopped and asked directions to the Clinton ferry.
At 11:44 p.m., a very upset West Beach Road resident reported that numerous cows were in her front yard and on her porch.
Monday, Nov. 5
At 4:37 p.m., a Smith Street resident reported that someone broke into her house and stole a VCR and video game player.
Tuesday, Nov. 6
At 9:12 a.m., there was a reported that someone stole a table from the front of the Greenbank Granite business.

Coupeville Police
The following items were selected from reports made to the Coupeville Police Department:
Monday, Oct. 29
At 12:00 p.m., a male adult was arrested on N. Main Street on a Skagit County warrant.
At 9:20 p.m., a caller reported that someone tried to break into a NE Ninth Street house.
Tuesday, Oct. 30
At 4:50 a.m., a hospital employee reported that a man in the medical / surgical area was entering a patient’s room and refused to listen to staff.
At 5:47 p.m., a caller reported that a 12-year-old boy showed a handgun to her 12-year-old son. The male juvenile was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon (pellet gun).
Wednesday, Oct. 31
At 1:59 a.m., a hospital employee asked for assistance in the emergency room with a teenager who may be out of control. The teenager was taken to the Island County Sheriff’s Office for protective custody.
At 7:51 a.m., a hospital employee asked for assistance with a Island County prisoner who is there for treatment.
At 10:12 a.m., there was a report that a fire extinguisher was stolen from NW Front Street.
At 10:54 a.m., a S. Main Street resident reported that two boys and a girl were pulling his wood from his wood pile.
At 4:40 a.m., a hospital employee reported that a group of kids were causing problems.
Saturday, Nov. 3
At 5:45 p.m., a man reported that his ex-girlfriend assaulted him. The woman was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault.
Sunday, Nov. 4
At 3:49 p.m., a hospital employee requested that a Coupeville officer standby while a violent patient is put on a gurney.

Monday, Oct. 29
At 11:28 a.m., a caller reported that NAS Whidbey would be conducting underwater demolition drills in Crescent Harbor at 2 p.m.
At 3:27 p.m., a caller said a man who matched the description of a rape suspect was alone in the bar at Mitzel’s. The caller would report if the man left the location.
At 11:12 p.m., a caller on N. Oak Harbor Street reported receiving a strange message on their answering machine. The caller said this might be a threat from a foreign person.
Tuesday, Oct. 30
At 1:52 a.m., a person said a man who had been drinking was trying to get into a house on Whitney Drive. The caller had gotten in a confrontation with the man at a bar earlier in the night.
At 8:54 a.m., a caller on SE Regatta Drive reported finding a rabbit head in a mailbox on Monday.
At 9:08 a.m., a concerned person said two men in orange vests were writing on clipboards at NW Second Avenue and NW Outrigger Loop. The caller was worried because no city vehicle was around.
At 11:31 a.m., a person brought a suspicious package to the fire department on E. Whidbey Avenue.
At 12:29 p.m., a woman on SW Fourth Avenue said a white van was parked across the street. The woman said a month ago this same van had followed her husband and turned around at the base gate.
5:18 p.m., a caller said people in the back of a truck on SW Barrington Drive were throwing things in front of other vehicles.
Wednesday, Oct. 31
At 7:04 a.m., a resident of N Oak Harbor Street reported a pumpkin had been thrown through a vehicle’s window.
At 7:58 a.m., a woman called from a business on SE Fourth Avenue to complain that a man was hanging around the business. The woman was alone and felt unsafe. She said last week the same man had come in the business and asked for money.
At 8:56 a.m., a caller reported an Island Transit bus had been speeding in a 20 mph school zone on E Whidbey Avenue and NE Midway Boulevard.
At 8:58 a.m., a woman on SW Robertson Drive reported that someone had been smashing pumpkins in the neighborhood.
At 10:14 a.m., a person at a business on SE Pioneer Way requested an officer take a report on a gun that was missing from inventory.
At 10:40 a.m., a caller on SW Putnam Drive reported pumpkins had been stolen and smashed.
At 2:49 p.m., a caller reported that a city garbage truck had hit a parked car on N Oak Harbor Street.
At 3:28 p.m., a caller reported a vehicle theft from N Oak Harbor Street.
At 6:14 p.m., a concerned caller said two men in their late 20s were hiding behind a tree on SW Robertson Drive and SW Putnam Drive. One of the men had a silver tube about 5-feet long. When the caller asked the men what they doing, the men said they were there to protect people who get mugged.
At 7:46 p.m., a woman called from NE Barron Drive and said her husband had opened a bill and a white substance came out. The woman said the bill was isolated in a bedroom. The woman was advised to close the door and keep away from the bill.
At 8:29 p.m., a concerned caller reported seeing two dark-skinned men who could be Arabic driving two semi-trucks at State Route 20 and SW Erie Street.
At 8:34 p.m., a caller reported that Arabics with heavy accents were giving kids candy on SE Pioneer Way.
At 9:10 p.m., a parent on NW Cathlamet Drive said their children had come home from trick-or-treating and someone had given the kids what looked and smelled like loose tobacco in a small bag.
At 10:22 p.m., a person a SW Erie Street said their house had been egged.
At 10:34 p.m., a caller on SW Eighth Avenue complained of pumpkin-smashing.
Thursday, Nov. 1
At 12:01, there was a report of reckless driving on NE Regatta Drive and State Route 20. A caller said a motorcycle driver was popping wheelies down the street.
At 2:38 a.m., a caller on NW First Drive reported being awakened by someone screaming and then heard a single gunshot.
At 5:53 a.m., a mother on SW Castilian Drive had just gotten home from the emergency room with her son. The boy had opened the door and had been hit in the eye with an egg.
At 7:18 a.m., a person on NE Fourth Avenue reported a case of pumpkin-smashing.
At 8:39 a.m., a person on W Whidbey Avenue called about receiving suspicious mail.
At 12:13 p.m., a person on SE Pioneer Way said that two men climbed over a fence and onto NAS property. The caller said the men got in a black truck and drove away.
At 12:25 p.m., a person on NE Eighth Avenue said their vehicle had been spray painted.
At 3:52 p.m., a person called from a business on SE Barrington Drive to report that a man had brought in a jacket to be drycleaned and a small plastic bag filled with a white substance was found in a pocket.
Friday, Nov. 2
At 9:05 a.m., a caller said a woman had been sitting in the back of vehicle on NE 16th Street for 15 minutes. The caller said the woman broke the window of the vehicle and crawled into the vehicle.
At 10:36 a.m., a concerned caller said about three weeks ago, someone with lewd pictures approached children near North Whidbey Middle School on NE Izett Street.
At 3:48 p.m., a resident on NE Sumner Drive reported a burglary. Someone had broken in through a sliding glass door and had stolen jewelry.
At 4:14 p.m., a caller said a man with a backpack and walked through the backyard and had broken a fence. The man apologized to the caller’s son for breaking the fence and kept walking.
At 4:21 p.m., a resident complained that construction behind a home on NE Seventh Place was shaking the house so much, the caller was afraid something was going to be broken.
At 7:24 p.m., a driving hazard was reported at SW Swantown Drive and State Route 20. Someone had lined pumpkins in the road and drivers were having to swerve to avoid them.
At 7:31 p.m., a caller on SW Capital Drive reported a suspicious situation. A Middle Eastern man was going door-to-door selling Kirby products.
At 7:37 p.m., a caller on SW Sunnyside Drive said a woman was selling Kirby products. The caller said it was too late for someone to be selling items door-to-door.
