James “Jim” D. Kessler, age 74, of Oak Harbor, died at 3:20 a.m. on May 1, 2016, at his residence.
Born in Carey, Ohio, on June 22, 1941, he was the son of the late Peter Edward and Cartha Gertrude (Phillips) Kessler.
He married Rose Lucius on May 22, 1965, near Bascom, Ohio. She survives in Oak Harbor.
Also surviving is their son Daryl (Brandy) Kessler, of Coupeville; grandson Andrew Kessler and granddaughter Carly (Cody) Grassman, both of Oak Harbor; and five siblings in Ohio.
He was preceded in death by son Tony Kessler.
He was a member of St. Augustine Church in Oak Harbor. A memorial mass will be held at a later date in Oak Harbor.
A huge fan of the Coupeville WolfPAC Theatre Troupe and Coupeville High School volleyball and basketball games, he requested memorial contributions be made in his name.
The Coupeville stage and gym gave him a welcoming community after leaving his home in Ohio to be closer to his grandkids.
