I am delighted for Thomas Kosloske (Letters, April 23) that all he needs to do is drive over the Deception Pass Bridge to go to Island Hospital in Anacortes. That facility was updated a few years back to the very same level that Whidbey General is asking Whidbey Islanders to vote for this May 17.

I visited a dear friend in Island Hospital in Anacortes before their renovation in 2006 and it was truly a disturbing experience. She could not wait to get out of there and get home to get some rest and healing. The rooms were small, over crowded, double occupancy, noisy and an all around bad experience for the patients as well as the staff who had to work in those conditions. There was not enough room for the beds, nurses and their equipment to serve the patient.

So Anacortes voters saw the need for change and they remodeled their hospital at that time.

Mr. Kosloske is using the tax dollars of Skagit County for his health issues and  benefit and would deny those of us who use Whidbey General Hospital of these same up to date wonderful facilities.

And it is interesting to see this in the news from Skagit County, “A $10 million, 25-year bond issue to finance a new Medical Arts Pavilion was approved by the Island Hospital Board of Commissioners at its Thursday meeting.” Anacortes is updating once again. Because they care and they can.

Please vote yes for the truly needed Whidbey General Hospital expansion bond.
