The Whidbey News-Times sat down with the kindergartners in Terese Root’s class at Oak Harbor Elementary to get to the bottom of the most important question of this time of year — What are they going to dress as for Halloween, and why?
Cat Miller — Fairy. I like fairies because they fly.
Colin Kania — Bumble Bee (from Transfomers). He’s cool. I like him. I watch the Transformers movies all the time.
Andrea Gould — Elsa. Because she’s all blue. Blue and pink and purple are my favorite colors.
Daemien Wagner Firefighter. Because they’re really cool and they have a fire hose at the top that they use to squirt out water. I love them because they really save a lot of people.
Edwin Graham — Pikachu. I like him.
Emma Watson — Velma (from Scooby Doo). Because my mom wanted me to be her.
Harrison Tamura — Vampire and Power Ranger. Because that’s what I’m going to be. My dad bought a new Halloween costume…I got a vampire costume from a long time ago when I was 4. Now I’m 5.
Heidi Hestbeck — Wonder Woman. Because it’s my favorite superhero, because she has a shield.
Isaac Rico — Pikachu. Because I like him, he’s in my favorite movie
Jack Mitchell — Black Panther. Because I really like Black Panther. I saw Black Panther in the movie when it was pizza and movie night, and it was really long.
Jillian Niesen — Cat Boy (from PJ Masks). He’s blue.
Jordan Wu — Captain America. Because I like Captain America.
Lillian Adair — Witch. Because they fly and they have powers.
Michael Bicanovsky — Rocket (from Guardians of the Galaxy). Because he’s so funny. I like the movies because Rocket growed a new Groot and Groot growed bigger.
Oliviah Savin — Cat. Because I like cats. They land on their paws.
Travis Fitts — Devil. I like it— the tail and the staff.
Zeddicus Sem — Police officer. Because I wanted to be that for Halloween.
