Thanks to Prosecutor Greg Banks for his efforts to force public discussion of whether some sacred cows should be cut back financially and to get the Island County Commissioners to “circle the wagons around core services” instead of their proposed 6 percent across the board approach.
Your recent editorial and news stories regarding debates on these subjects remind me of the old expression, “In the land of the blind the man with one eye is KING.” It’s obvious that Greg is our “one eyed man.”
Apparently our elected commissioners are blind, or too insecure to make tough decisions or just financially incompetent.
Whatever their reason I am please we have KING Greg Banks as the lone voice of financial logic communicating taxpayers needs for responsible fiscal management of county funds.
Maybe someday the commissioners (or their replacements) will get the message that not all county services are equal in value.
