A 29-year-old Langley man is facing a felony charge for allegedly entering a man’s home without permission to retrieve his ex-girlfriend.
Prosecutors charged Jesse Hurt in Island County Superior Court Nov. 28 with burglary in the first degree. If convicted of the charge, he could face more than two years in prison under the standard sentencing range.
A Clinton resident reported Nov. 22 that Hurt had assaulted him. The man said Hurt’s ex-girlfriend was staying with him in his trailer in order to keep Hurt away from her since they broke up.
The man said he returned home and found Hurt inside his trailer with the woman, even though he didn’t have permission to be there. When the owner confronted him, Hurt allegedly hit and choked him, according to the police report.
The man ran from the trailer to get help. When he returned, Hurt was dragging the woman from the trailer to his car. Hurt armed himself with a 2-by-4 board, but the woman was able to escape after another man distracted Hurt, court documents state.
Hurt is being held in jail on $10,000 bail.
