League, library holding public forums on primary this week

The League of Women Voters and Sno-Isle Libraries are partnering on two public forums for races and issues to be decided in the August primary election. League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island representatives will ask questions of the candidates at these events which are free and open to the public.

The first forum is at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, at Oak Harbor Elks Lodge, 155 Ernst St. in Oak Harbor.

Candidates running for state senate in the 10th Legislative District are expected to attend. They are Sen. Barbara Bailey and challengers Angie Homola and Nick Petrish.

Also, candidates for Island County commissioner, position 2, are expected. They are Commissioner Jill Johnson and challengers John Fowkes and Dustin Amundson.

n The second forum is at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 6:30 p.m., at Unitarian Universalist Church, 20103 Highway 525, Freeland.

The candidates running for state senate are expected to attend.

In addition, there will be discussion of Port District of South Whidbey Island ballot measure “concerning Fairgrounds property and a property tax increase to support it.”
