Whidbey Island Naval Air Station is close to completing a $600,000 replacement of existing streetlights and exterior building lights with energy-efficient LED models, the base told the press.

The new fixtures will save more than $42,000 in electricity costs annually, allowing the Navy to earn a $73,000 rebate. They will render colors better, cut glare and improve light distribution and uniformity. The project will be completed by mid-month, the Navy said.
