Editor,

This past weekend, Christopher’s on Whidbey hosted its first annual “Christopher’s Cares” fundraiser to benefit the Gifts from the Heart Food Bank, which serves Central Whidbey Island.

There were many people who helped us put on this fun evening — first and foremost the band, “Hey Bulldog” — John Tristao, Kevin Johnson and Larry Mason — who generously donated their time and enormous talent with an evening of nostalgic Beatles music.

In addition, our most sincere thanks go to Beth Tristao, who helped us pack the house; our fantastic staff, who generously donated all of their tips for the evening; Penn Cove Shellfish, US Foodservice and Sysco Food Services for their culinary donations; and most of all to the community who came out for a magical evening in support of a great cause.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised just under $5,500 for the food bank.

We look forward to doing it again next year.
