To the Coupeville merchants along the waterside of front street and to the Town of Coupeville, imagine my surprise when I saw my just laughing wife step over the curb and put her foot on what was assumed to be proper footing.

Instead, she was slimed and took a nasty header just prior to us go to dinner at a Coupeville establishment.

When she hit the slimed decking/walkway from merely putting her foot down from the street level — from the corner of my eye I saw her slam to the curb and asphalt and then splay out like a flopping salmon (Salmon have a different vocabulary for expressing themselves).

Needless to say that was a hilarious start to Valentine’s dinner — trouble is she wasn’t amused.

Having had shaded cedar decks in the Pacific Northwest for 28 years, pressure washing once in a while with inbetween preventative maintenance regime using a water and part Clorox mix, swept or sprayed on, will kill the moss instantly and will lessen the chance of injury to others and eliminate that condition of as a liability waiting for a victim.

A short moss assessment was taken as my wife regained her composure in the car and I found it to be worse in front of the buildings along Front Street primarily at the east end.

However, noticeable slime exists on the walk between buildings. The shoes she was wearing are meant for the Pacific Northwest and have tremendous soles.

My wife is sure footed and aware of slimed decks – not a senior citizen with unsure feet out for a stroll, Capisci? Thank you.
