A Level 3 sex offender is moving to the Oak Harbor area.
The Island County Sheriff’s Office is holding a meeting 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31 to discuss the sex offender, laws regarding sex offenders and general safety issues. The meeting is at the Oak Harbor Fire Station on West Whidbey Avenue.
Kristofer M. Lacross, 28, has been deemed a Level 3 sex offender, which means he’s considered a high risk to reoffend. He’s moving to a home on the 33000 block of State Highway 20 near Oak Harbor.
Lacross was just 12 years old when he sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl he was not related to and a 6-year-old he was related to, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office. The assaults occurred over several months.
Lacross was convicted of rape of a child in the first degree and child molestation in the first degree in Clark County in 2001.
Lacross participated in sex offender treatment during incarceration.
Lacross, however, was convicted in 2005 and 2010 of failure to register as a sex offender. He’s required to register for life as a sex offender.
