Members of the Coupeville Lions Club will gather at Prairie Center Red Apple and Whidbey Island Bank in Coupeville to raise funds as part of the annual Lions White Cane Day from April 29 through May 7.
Funds donated by community members will be used to fund the Northwest Lions Foundation, “Restoring Sight, Hope, & Hearing” through Patient Care Grants, Project Support Grants and to support the Lions Health Screening Unit, which traveled over 20,000 miles, giving more than 34,000 free check-ups for glaucoma, diabetes, and blood pressure.
“Money raised on will allow Lions to meet pressing needs in our district,” said Lion Joe Walck. “Lion members thank everyone who contributes to this important work. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community.”
The Coupeville Lions Club has 135-plus members and meets at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the Coupeville United Methodist Church-Fellowship Hall.
Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
