Do we know that the vandalism of the signs was an attempt to mute the opinion of another?
Do we know that it was an organized act? Do we even know who did it?
No. Currently there is significant reasonable doubt about who did it and why it was done. All is speculation.
Shame on whomever did this. But to outright claim that this was an attempt to mute the opinion of others is an outright slur against the thousands of Whidbey Islanders who support the OLF.
Until we know the circumstances, let’s not rush to judgment. And try not to imply that those of us who support our troops training are thuggish and lowbrow.
You chose those words. Why?
If some of us find a slant against the OLF Coupeville in your publication, read your opinions from the perspective of someone who is empathetic to the training and safety of our troops.
I readily and openly have admitted that I have a son with a highly dangerous job in the Air Force.
His job and safety depend on his ability to train.
Of course I’m going to speak up about my concerns. He’s my son and I love him.
But that doesn’t mean I’d waste my time, money and energy defacing a sign.
It does mean I will speak up on forums like this until you chose to suspend my privileges.
Have you seen the relentless coverage of the U.S. Navy obeying the orders of President Barak Obama in the Mediterranean?
Do those officers and enlisted folks have the choice to disregard these orders?
No. Let us all pray that their safety and training does not depend upon the whims of a minority of folks on Whidbey Island.
