A 20-year-old man was arrested at the Oak Harbor Post Office Tuesday afternoon following an argument that began at Rite Aid, according to police Capt. Bill Wilkie.
Several Oak Harbor Police officers responded and directed traffic on SE Barrington Drive next to the post office during the incident, Wilkie said.
Just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, a 25-year-old man reported to Oak Harbor Police that the driver of a white Nissan Versa had pointed a gun at him during an argument in the Rite Aid parking lot.
The victim said the driver and the other two occupants were “making fun” of him, Wilkie said. An argument ensued.
The driver grabbed a gun belonging to a 23-year-old passenger and allegedly pointed it at the victim before driving the car away.
The victim gave officers a description of the vehicle and it was spotted on Highway 20 by an animal control officer.
Police officers stopped the car at the post office. The occupants were taken out of the car, including a 16-year-old boy in the backseat, and the driver was taken into custody for assault with a firearm, Wilkie said.
Officers reported they saw a black Glock pistol in the car during the arrest, according to Wilkie.
The car was impounded by police.
