A 20-year-old South Whidbey man has been getting into a lot of trouble lately, according to court records.

Jerome Stonebridge was arraigned in Island County Superior Court July 29 on charges from three different cases.

Prosecutors charged Stonebridge July 20 with possession of methamphetamine in one case; they charged him with first-degree possession of stolen property in another case; and they charged him with residential burglary in a third case.

According to law enforcement reports, a deputy arrested Stonebridge on the drug charge after a traffic stop in Clinton Jan. 25. Deputy Darren Crownover pulled Stonebridge over and took him into custody because he was a suspect in a robbery case.

Crownover searched the car and found two tins under a seat. One of the tins contained meth, the report states.

Stonebridge pleaded not guilty July 29.

In the stolen property case, Stonebridge had similar bad luck. He stole a 1997 Nissan King Cab from a Whidbey Island woman, drove it to Camano Island and ran out of gas, court records state.

A deputy just happened to be driving by and saw Stonebridge walking in the rain. The deputy offered Stonebridge a ride. When he refused, the deputy became suspicious. He investigated and ended up recovering the stolen truck and arresting Stonebridge, the report states.

Stonebridge claimed that he didn’t steal the truck. He said the owner told him he could borrow the truck, but that she “was half asleep at the time.”

In the burglary case, Stonebridge is accused of burglarizing his parents’ Freeland home while they were on vacation this summer.

Stonebridge snuck into the house, threw stuff around the house and broke items, court documents show. He wrote a note saying “this has been poisoned” on the refrigerator. His mother told a deputy that Stonebridge has a meth problem.

Stonebridge pleaded not guilty to the charge July 29.
