A 63-year-old former South Whidbey man admitted to an investigator that he molested his grandson dozens of times while he was living with the child’s family, according to a report by Detective Sue Quandt with the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
Larry Turgoose, currently an Everett resident, pleaded not guilty in Island County Superior Court Aug. 6 to charges of child molestation in the first degree and incest in the second degree.
Quandt wrote the 10-year-old boy disclosed Turgoose had fondled him, beginning when he was 9 years old, at homes in Langley and Clinton.
Turgoose later admitted that he had molested the boy once a week for a year, Gardner wrote.
On Aug. 6, Island County Superior Court Judge Alan Hancock approved a sexual assault protection order barring Turgoose from contacting the alleged victim.
If convicted of the charges, Turgoose could face from four years and three months to five years and eight months in prison under the standard sentencing range.
