An Oak Harbor man is facing charges after admitting to sexually molesting an 8-year-old girl, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Skylar Gianguzzo, 21, in Island County Superior Court May 4 with three counts of rape of a child in the first degree and one count of child molestation in the first degree.

Last month, the child’s mother reported to police that the girl had disclosed being touched in a sexual manner several times by Gianguzzo. In one instance, he allegedly bribed the girl with candy to let him touch her, according to the police report.

During an interview with police, Gianguzzo allegedly admitted to the allegations.

Gianguzzo told police that he touched the girl “five or six times,” the police report states.

Gianguzzo told police he knew it was wrong to sexually abuse the child, but he also said he felt she liked it, the report states.
