An Oak Harbor man with a history of drug-related crimes was recently arrested for allegedly dealing cocaine, according to Island County Court documents.

Prosecutors charged Odie J. Cook, Jr., 31, in Superior Court April 30 with possession with intent to deliver cocaine. He could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the charge.

A report by a community corrections officer states that Cook was under the supervisor of the Department of Corrections after getting out of prison in October.

He served time on a drug-related charge.

Detective Carl Seim with the Oak Harbor Police Department obtained a search warrant on Cook’s Jeep Grand Cherokee last month.

Oak Harbor police, Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Department of Corrections served the search warrant April 25 after Cook drove into the parking lot in front of Whidbey Furniture.

The Jeep was towed to the police department and searched.

Seim’s report stated that the officers discovered a plastic bag containing 3.3 grams of suspected cocaine inside a towel that was under the hood.

A few plastic bags containing suspected marijuana and a couple of digital scales were also found in the vehicle, Seim said in his report.

On the same day, police and community corrections officers searched Cook’s home. They allegedly found a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and another containing suspected psilocybin mushrooms inside a closet, according to the report by a corrections officer.

On April 29, Cook made a preliminary appearance in court on a case related to the search of his home.

Cook criminal history includes convictions for seven drug-related felonies, according to Seim’s report.
