“An 18-year-old Sedro-Woolley man who went on a vandalism, burglary and car prowl spree across Oak Harbor last September recently pleaded guilty to nine felony charges.Jeremy David Painter was sentenced under the first-time offender sentencing alternative, which sets his sentence at a maximum of 90 days in jail. Judge Alan Hancock handed him the maximum.Painter pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree theft, three counts of second-degree malicious mischief, four counts of first-degree malicious mischief and second-degree burglary.If he wasn’t sentenced under the first-time offender alternative, Painter would have faced up to two years and five months in prison.During his crime spree Sept. 5 and 6, Painter stole a stereo and a cell phone from a car on SE Eighth Avenue; stole a stereo, CD player and coins from a car on SE Ninth Street; vandalized a car on SE Glencoe Street; vandalized the soft tops on two cars at Frontier Chevrolet; knocked over vending machines at City Beach Park; vandalized five cars by breaking windows and scratching the paint at Oak Harbor Motors; slashed the soft top on a car on SE Fifth Avenue; and burglarized a garage on SE Eighth Avenue.Painter was also ordered to pay $8,930 in restitution.”
