A 49-year-old Bellingham resident accused of using racial slurs and threatening to kill an Oak Harbor man is wanted on a $10,000 warrant, court documents show.

Prosecutors charged Timothy Scott in Island County Superior Court Aug. 23 with harassment (threats to kill) and malicious harassment.

Judge Vickie Churchill authorized the $10,000 bench warrant after Scott failed to appear for an Aug. 11 hearing.

Oak Harbor Police Officer Ron Hofkamp arrested a man for an alleged domestic violence assault April 21. During an interview, the suspect asked Hofkamp to listen to threatening messages on his cell phone.

A male caller, later identified as Scott, yelled racial slurs and threatens to kill the man, the report indicates. The alleged victim was identified as an African-American man.

Scott said “he was going to kill (the man), eat his brains, bury him in the hills, etc.,” Hofkamp wrote.

The report indicates that Scott was upset at the man because he had allegedly assaulted Scott’s daughter, who was the victim of the domestic violence the man was arrested for.

If convicted of the charges, Scott could face more than a year in prison under the standard sentencing range.
