Meeting to cover hunting on Oak Harbor Navy base

People interested in hunting on Whidbey Island Naval Air Station property during the 2015-16 season are invited to attend a “one-shop-stop” meeting Wednesday, Sept. 23 at the Gallery Golf Course in Oak Harbor.

People interested in hunting on Whidbey Island Naval Air Station property during the 2015-16 season are invited to attend a “one-shop-stop” meeting Wednesday, Sept. 23 at the Gallery Golf Course in Oak Harbor.

The meeting is 5-7 p.m. in Building 130.

Handouts will cover on-base hunting permit requirements, hunting areas and base access procedures.

Hunters may register, pay the $13 permit fee and receive an installation hunting permit.

Civilian hunters may participate in the pheasant release and upland game program on the installation.

To participate in these on-base hunting programs, civilian hunters must submit a National Crime Information Check background check at NAS Whidbey prior to being issued an installation hunting permit.
