A South Whidbey sex offender who went missing is wanted on a $25,000 arrest warrant.
A deputy with the Island County Sheriff’s Office was conducting checks of registered sex offenders earlier this year and discovered that Casey S. Andrade wasn’t living where he was supposed to be. Under law, registered sex offenders must report their residences to the sheriff’s office and have to alert authorities if they plan on moving.
Andrade is a Level 1 sex offender who was convicted of two counts of child molestation in the first degree in 2009. Level 1 sex offenders are considered the least likely to reoffend.
Prosecutors charged Andrade, 23, in Island County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 28 with failure to register as a sex offender, a felony count.
In May, the deputy went to Andrade’s registered home in Clinton. A family member to Andrade reported that he had moved out the prior year.
The family member said Andrade now lives near a gas station in Freeland in an area of “nice looking homes” where people like to go fishing, the report states.
