The Coupeville High School baseball team entered the season with hopes of winning the Cascade Conference crown. Defending champion Archbishop Murphy squashed those dreams by sweeping a three-game series from the Wolves last week, including an 11-0 drubbing Friday, April 4, in Everett.

The Wolves (2-4, 3-4) won’t have much time to lick their wounds because they face the current second-place team, Cedarcrest (6-2, 6-2), in this week’s series.

The clubs play in Coupeville at 4 p.m. Monday, April 7, and Friday, April 11, and in Duvall Wednesday, April 9.

In the final loss to Archbishop Murphy (8-0, 8-2), the Wildcats chased starter C.J. Smith in the third and reliever Aaron Trumbull in the fourth by scoring all 11 of their runs in those innings in the five-inning game.

Meanwhile, Coupeville collected only two hits off three Archbishop Murphy pitchers.

“Nothing good happened except we are done playing them,” said Coupeville coach Willie Smith.
