More than 60 Coupeville runners were among the 2,745 participants who finished the 13th annual Whidbey Island Marathon or one of it associated races Sunday, April 13.
In addition to the marathon, the event featured a half marathon, a 10K, a 5K and a 1K children’s race.
Jennifer Porter (301st, 4:59:39), Aimee Bishop (355th, 5:24:21) and Christi Messner (356th, 5:24:21) represented Coupeville among the 408 who ran the marathon.
In the half marathon field of 1,625, the top three Coupeville men were Mark Noste (89th, 1:41:23), Stig Carlson (264th, 1:52:56) and Jim Boer (394th, 1:58.03).
Holly Salinger (100th, 1:42:18), Christina Bromme (236th, 1:51:12) and Claire Milnes (488th, 2:01.29) led the women.
Olivia Flack (21st, 50:38), Sarah Woehrman (52nd, 55:41) and Marian Quarrier (61st, 57:19) paced the Coupeville women in the 10K. John Eggers (195th, 1:14:35) was the only Central Whidbey man in the race of 334.
Coupeville leaders among the men in the 5K were Mitchell Carroll (17th, 23:34), Michael Laska (18th, 24:25) and Jake Mitten (34th, 26:41). Jennifer Wynn (19th, 24:26), Kenia Eck (133rd, 37:06) and Jennifer Laska (142nd, 38:02) led the women among the 262 participants.
Top Coupeville boys in the children’s 1K race of 116 were Alexander Wasik (24th, 4:38), Jack Porter (29th, 4:45) and Nicholas Wasik (41st, 5:07). Among the girls, leaders were Lyla Stuurmans (32nd, 4:49), Mia Ackerman (39th, 5:06) and Abigail Place (48th, 5:17).
