With the eagle nesting season out of the way, paving can resume in Oak Harbor.

Crews will start laying the final layer of asphalt on Highway 20 south of Oak Harbor on Tuesday night, July 15, and plan to finish the work in two weeks, as long as the weather stays nice.

One lane will be closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, through Thursday, July 17. Flaggers will alternate traffic through the work zone. Drivers should be prepared for minor delays.

WSDOT was forced to postpone this paving twice because of wet and cold weather last fall and a pair of nesting bald eagles this spring. The nesting season as regulated by state rules ended July 15.

This work is part of the $9.6 million safety improvement project that widened lanes and shoulders, added turn lanes, straightened and leveled the road, and added other current safety features between Sidney Street and Scenic Heights Road.
