The Whidbey Camano Land Trust partnered with the Whidbey General Hospital’s Green Team on Saturday, April 26 to build a trail in the Krueger Woods protected property in Coupeville.

The Krueger Woods property is located across the street from the hospital between North Main Street and Broadway Street.

The property is owned by the Town of Coupeville and is permanently protected with a conservation easement through the Land Trust.

With the permission of the town, hospital employees and Land Trust staff built a new portion of the trail to complete a loop trail that’s open to the public and especially convenient for hospital employees to walk during breaks from work.

Pat Powell, who serves as executive director for the Land Trust and as a Coupeville Town Council member, said there are different trail sizes depending on the person’s speed and lunch break time.

There will be a ribbon cutting event celebrating the new trail and partnership between the Land Trust and hospital 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13.
