Three seek hospital vacancy

There are currently three people who have applied to fill a coming vacancy on the Whidbey General Hospital Board.

Hal Seligson, Herbert Weissblum and Grethe Cammermeyer have applied to fill the vacancy created by Holly Schoenknecht, who announced her resignation last month.

Hospital board member Roger Case said the application period will remain open until the end of September. The candidates will be interviewed during a special board meeting and then the board will make a decision on Schoenknecht’s replacement. She represents the South Whidbey area.

During Monday’s board meeting, officials recognized Schoenknect’s dedicated efforts on the hospital board. She was halfway through her third six-year term before deciding to resign for family reasons.

Help plan the library expansion

Sno-Isle Libraries is recruiting people to participate in the early stages of planning the expansion and remodel of the Coupeville Library.

Coupeville School District residents approved two propositions authorizing the construction project on the current library.

The building committee will consist of a town representative, library district staff and representatives from the Coupeville community.

An information meeting about committee member responsibilities and timelines for the project is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Coupeville Library.

Community members interested in serving on the Building Committee can submit a written request which addresses their qualifications by Thursday, Sept. 24 to Jeanne Crisp, director of technical services and facilities development, at jcrisp@sno-isle.org.
