All too often, some people attempt to make an argument by attacking those who hold opposing views. Marilyn Sherman Clay’s conjectures (Letters, Feb. 27) are a perfect example.

On the topic of sexual offenders. I would like to take a moment to lend support to the thesis that human life is full of artificiality, perversion, and misery, much of which is caused by people like these. As our society continues to unravel, more and more people are grasping for straws, grasping for something to hold onto, grasping for something that promises to give them the sense of security and certainty that they so desperately need. Information is knowledge, knowledge is power, and power is a voice in which to be heard.

Yes it is sad that these sex offenders are inherently perverted, horny, and licentious. So what should we do, place blinders over our eyes and hope we don’t have to see or hear the horrible outcome of these crimes? Being naive and blind is not the answer. These sex offenders are classified for a reason. They are required to register for a reason. And society has a right to know about them in detail.

I for one wish to know the details. I wish to know if they live next door, down the street, or next to the school where our children attend. If you do not want to hear it, don’t listen. If you do not want to read it, don’t buy a paper. You live in a bubble Ms. Clay. Pop it! And join the rest of us in the real world.
